This was a classic example of the result being more important then the performance as we just about came out the right side of a 5 goal war of attrition with an extremely game Castlemaine side. A forgetful game played on a poor pitch in terrible conditions was notable for the performances of Niall Riordan and centre back pairing of Byrnes and King. This team now has realised that to achieve their goals these are the games that have to be won.
Under 15
Killarney Athletic 3 Killarney Celtic 1
Our under 15 team are continuing their unbeaten run in Kerry Schoolboys soccer with another fine win this time in the cup. They defeated our near neighbours Killarney Celtic 3-1 to get to the cup final for their second time in a row. It was played in what you could call one of the worst nights of the year for soccer with lashing wind and rain, however this did not stop the team from playing out their hearts. We went in at half time with a 3-0 lead thanks to wonderful goals from Ronan Buckley, Michael Casey and a wonderful end to end goal from Dylan O’Sullivan. The second half was hard on all players especially as they had to play in wet gear and relentless rain. Celtic scored with 25 minutes to go and only for good goalkeeping from Dara Curran it could have been much closer in the end. This was a gritty tough game for our boys but they came through showing why they are the team they are, full of heart and commitment and good team work. Well done to all on a fine win and to the great SUPPORT that was evident on the night from parents and club members. The cup final is fixed for Killarney Celtic's all weather pitch on Saturday 12th May.
Best Wishes to Michael Potts who suffered a bad injury last Saturday.
