Athletic got off to the worst possible start with Colin McCarthy free kick evading the Athletic defence and keeper to give Castleisland the lead inside the first minute. Athletic attacked the rest of the half with majority of possession but castleisland and Aidan o Callaghans defence held out to keep the score 1-0 at half time. With a new tactical mindset from Stuart and Alan, Athletic had more composure and in the 59th minute, a free kick from Daithi Casey rattled the back of the onion bag to level peg the game. With momentum now with Athletic, a minute later Seanie Cournane and Will Courtney combined for Seanie to slot home to give Athletic a well deserved lead. 5 minutes later, Seanie was to give us a worldie of a goal when just under 30 yards out , hit the ball into the top corner of the net to give Kevin Moran no chance in the Castleisland goal. Castleisland had a few late chances but to no avail. Athletic meet Mitchels Avenue F C in the final.
