Saturday 13th January 2018
Mastergeeha A 3-4 Killarney Athletic A

The U 13 A team travelled the short distance to Mastergeeha and were involved in a classic encounter with the home side. In an evenly contested first half Mastergeeha took the lead despite excellent defending by Paddy Foley Oscar McCarthy Órán Daly and well Marshalled by the excellent goal keeper Tom Benson. Athletic responded well in the second half with the hard working Josh Coffey Oisín Lynch and the clever passes by lone striker Matthew Moynihan. Following a strong run Alex Hannigan excellently executed the resultant penalty to level the game. However Mastergeeha responded well and playing excellent soccer went into a commanding 3-1 lead with just 15 minutes remaining. Subs Dónal Hickey and Cillian ó Connor were introduced and both made an immediate impact and the superb Thomas Healy finished superbly following a good move. A brilliant weighted pass by Donnacha Coffey found Alex Hennigan in space and he volleyed to the net to level the game 3-3,we were now in injury time and following excellent play by Neil O Carroll with a clever pass to Donnacha Coffey who drilled the ball to the net for a brilliant Win. This was an excellent win in a sporting game against an excellent Mastergeeha side who were unlucky not to take at least a point from the game. This team is showing great character for the first year in the Premier division and manager Shane Foley is doing great work with this young team. We wish a speedy recovery to Rocco Sheahan flu and Michi Lynch broken wrist and Dara o Brien who was in Dublin and we hope to have all available for selection for our next game.
