Killarney Athletic 4 Strand Road 2
In what was a difficult away fixture played on a heavy pitch, Athletics work ethic plus team spirit saw us through this tie with the away keeper keeping us out with a string of fine saves. Goals from Mason Ferris, Kim, Jack Cahill, Rory Riordan and plenty of positives to take from this display on the back of a 4-4 draw with Celtic the previous week, this team certainly know where the net is.
Under 16
Killarney Athletic 2 Fenit 4
Scorers for Athletic were David Sheerin and Sean McGrath. Man of the Match was Darragh Coffey.
Under 13
Killarney Athletic 2 Killorglin 3
The under 13 second team went down 3-2 to Killorglin Thurs 6th Oct at home. Athletic started brightly and played neat quick football on the ground leading to an early goal from Jordanas Jonikaitis. Killorglin got 1 back due to an unfortunate own goal and got a fortunate penalty to lead 2-1 at half time. Athletic had all the possession in the second half but were caught on the counter. Jack Kelliher got a late consolidation goal. Special thanks to JP Mullins for reffing the game at short notice. The 1st team are home to Fairview Rangers this Saturday (15th) and we are asking parents, players and fellow members to come support the boys.
Under 12 Home League Killarney Athletic V Killarney Celtic

In a very closely contested game Athletic lost 3 – 1 to Celtic in Woodlawn with Celtic finishing stronger and scoring 2 goals in the last 10 minutes. Liam Curran scored for Athletic in the first half and the score was 1 – 1 at half time. Liam had a great chance to put Athletic ahead with 15 minutes remaining but after a great run he shot narrowly wide. Best for Athletic on the day were David O'Mahony in goal, Mark Fennel and Colm Cagney in defence and Reece Hegarty in mid field.

Killarney Athletic A.F.C. 19th Annual Golf Classic.

Despite bouts of heavy rain, the 19th Annual Golf Classic, in association with main sponsor Monex, went off very well on Saturday last. The Beaufort course withstood the trying elements and with Amanda and Lorraine Fleming looking after refreshments at the 11th tee box, the competition was keen. Refreshments continued at the prize-giving which took place in the sponsor Scotts’ Snug where the prizes of three balls at Doonbeg, Cork, Blarney and Beaufort were distributed as follows:
1st: O’ Neills’ Fishing Tackle. Neil Kiely, Martin Driver and back from the States, Denis Nash (56 points). 2nd: Pat Nagle /Deirdre’s Fashions. Pat Nagle, Christy Sheehan and Pete O’Sullivan (53 points). 3rd: O’Donoghue Ring Hotels. Michael O’Donoghue, Patsy O’Donoghue and Denis McCarthy (53 points). 4th: The Danny Mann. Particular thanks to Frank Murphy of Monex for his generous sponsorship and to Jo Noonan who represented him at the prize-giving. Extended thanks to all our other sponsors and players – we couldn’t do it without you! A final thank you to the organising committee of Alan Brady, Michael O’Shea, Paul O’Neill, Denis O’Neill, Brian O’Regan, Tom Tobin, Alan O’Meara, Maurice O’Donoghue, Toirdealbhach Ó Lionáird, Shane Kelly and Patrick Howard. Player & Person of the Year Awards
Killarney Athletic A.F.C. held its annual player of the year awards night on Saturday 8th October in Scotts Bar. A great night was had by all and a word of thanks to Maurice O’Donoghue and the staff of Scotts for being great hosts for the evening. Senior A player of the year award went to Gary Moynihan who received the Sean O’Connor & Martin Beckett Memorial Perpetual Trophy. Senior B player of the year award went to Tommy Slattery and Youths player of the year went to Ryan O’Carroll. Club Person of the year went to Alan Brady. Colette Casey also received a special award for all her hard work for the club. On the night the club paid tribute to outgoing chairman, Don O’Donoghue. Don took over from long-standing chairman Mike O’Sullivan in 2008 and ensured that the club continued in the right direction both on and off the field. He was always readily available in person and at the other end of the phone and he made it his business to attract support for the club on a local level and all the way up to the F.A.I. itself. His dedication, sense of humour and passion for the club will be missed but we hope that he will continue to assist the club when he can. From all at Killarney Athletic A.F.C., thanks Don and the very best of luck into the future!
