Senior A Team
FAI Junior Cup
Killarney Athletic 3 Tulla Utd 0
The seniors took a positive first step in the FAI Junior Cup with a solid 3-0 win over Tulla Utd from Clare. The visitors had Athletic under the cosh early on but before long, the home side began to create chances. Martin Crowley was unlucky from close in, David Gleeson couldn’t capitalise when one-on-one with the keeper and the woodwork saved Tulla, before the impressive Rory O’Sullivan put Athletic one up with his left just before the break. Athletic started the better in the second but it took until the last ten for Adam Moynihan to slot home number two and make the win safe. Tulla had their own chances but Brian O’Connor was solid in goal and with Ryan O’Carroll unimpeachable at right back, ably supported by the Martin Crowley, Athletic kept them out. Denis Galvin headed home with aplomb from close range after a cross from Moynihan to seal the win with little time remaining. Best for Athletic were Martin Crowley, Rory O’Sullivan and Ryan O’Carroll.

Killarney Athletic 4 Dingle 2
Played in very windy conditions in Dingle, we got off to a perfect start when Michael Casey scored after 5 minutes. The windy conditions made it very hard to play for both teams and Dingle took at advantage with the wind at their backs to score 2 goals before half time. The second half was all Athletic and the pressure paid off when Michael Foley scored to leave it 2-2. With 10 minutes remaining Adam O’Shea made it 3-2 from a corner kick and soon afterwards Athletic made sure of the win when Michael Foley scored his second goal of the match.

Killarney Athletic 3 Mastergeeha 3
A thriller of a game which ended in 3 goals all. Athletic went ahead after ten minutes with the best goal I’ve seen in years by Lorcan McMonagle with a shot from the half way line Mike Potts got Athletic’s second goal. Half time Athletic were 2 goals up in the second half Athletic gave away a penalty then Lorcan got his second goal to make it 3 goals to 1 but a rare mistake by Athletic’s keeper brought Mastergeeha back in the game to make it 3 goals to 2. With 3 minutes left Athletic were unlucky as a penalty was given against them this decision cost Athletic their 1st win of the season best for Athletic Mike Potts, Lorcan McMonagle, Liam Buckley, Sean Courtney and Robert Campbell.
