Killarney Athletic Notes
Youths
Killarney Athletic 3 Shannon Wanderers 2

In an ill tempered game which a player from each side been sent off Athletic eventually got the upper hand by playing better football. The game started with Athletic applying the pressure but it was Wanderers who opened the scoring after 17 mins. It took until 10 mins into the 2nd half before Athletic equalised when Brian O’Shea finished cooly after a great move. Wanderers took the lead again midway through the half and with 8 mins left all looked lost until Conor Doyle equalised and headed the winner with a few mins to spare. A solid performance by Joe Donovan in the defence, 2 goal hero Connor Doyle and stand in keeper Anthony Cronin deserve special Mention.

Killarney Athletic 3 Ennis 2

We made the long trip to Ennis missing no less than eight players so we were always going to have a hard task. The home side took an early lead and we came back strong through players like Jack Cahill and Jack O’Connor, but Ennis got another goal right on the stroke of halftime. Right from the start of the second half we had Ennis on the back foot and were unlucky not to be level as Rory O’Riordan, Jack O’Connor, Jack Cahill and Kimfuta all went close. As we went in search of a goal large gaps appeared in our defence and the home side exploited the gaps to great effect and got two more goals, we got a consolation late on through TJ O’Sullivan. If we had a full strength team it would have been a different result, but you can only play the cards you are dealt. Best on a disappointing day were Jack O’Connor, Jack Cahill, Shane O’Sullivan, Dara Kelliher and TJ O’Sullivan.
Under 12
Killarney Athletic played Mastergeeha last Saturday and lost 3 goals to 2 goals. Poor defending allowed Mastergeeha into the game Athletic led by 2 goals to 1 goal at half time with goals from Billy Courtney and Brendan Coppinger but with only a few minutes to go Athletic let a bad goal in and lost this vital league game best for Athletic Aodain de Brun, Daniel O’Brien and Billy Courtney.
