Killarney Athletic Notes
Under 12 trip to Nottingham Forest

The planned trip for the Killarney Athletic under 12 team to Nottingham Forest is fast approaching. Ex Athletic player Brendan Moloney now plays for Forest, but unfortunately is out injured for the rest of the season. The fundraising draw for the trip took place in the Dromhall Hotel and the following were the prize winners: 1st prize Catherine O’Mahoney, Ballydribeen, 2nd prize Karl Fleming, Muckross, 3rd prize Jer O’Mahoney, Kilcummin and 4th prize Tommy Brosnan, Ballyspillane. We would like to thank all who supported our draw and to all the sellers and would like to wish the team the best of luck on their trip.
Under 11
Killarney Athletic v Listowel under 11s cup game.
Listowel won this game 5gls to 3gls.Eventhough Athletic were 3gls to 1 up with 18 minutes left. Athletic were the better side but poor defending and a tired midfield let Listowel back in to the game. It didn’t help with some bad decisions going against them either. A penalty brought Listowel back into the game and it was a harsh call as it was a great tackle by Mike Potts who was playing at right back. Then 2 more goals by Listowel who were clearly off side were allowed and this didn’t help the morale of Athletic’s players. 2 offsides were given against Athletic in the closing stages as subsitute Blake Bolster was 1 on 1 with the keeper.Best for Athletic James Suter, David Naughton.and Daniel O’Brien.
Tuesday Killarney Athletic v Killarney Celtic
Athletic lost 3 goals to nil in this local derby in the league. With a goal down at half time Athletic were still in this game but when Celtic got the second in the second half it was over as a contest. Athletic never gave up and had their chances but you have to take your chances when you get them. Best for Athletic David Naughton, Daniel O’Brien and Shane O’Connor.
