Killarney Athletic 4 Killarney Celtic 4
Youths drew 4-4 with Killarney Celtic on Saturday. Jack Cahill and Niall Riordan were excellent and Stephen Griffin in goal pulled off some very good saves near the end. The lads will feel they should have had the game wrapped up after half time but untimely injuries upset the balance of the team. Plenty of positives from this bunch of lads.
Under 16 National Cup
Killarney Athletic 5 Aisling Annacotty 3
Well done to the under 16 team in their first game in the National Cup. Scorers David Sheerin 2, Adam O’Shea 2, & Johnny O’Leary 1. With Man of the Match going to Dylan Trant.
Under 15 Premier League
Killarney Athletic 3 Killarney Celtic 2
Athletic started the stronger but a poor clearance let Celtic in to take a 1 nil lead. Celtic held this lead until Michael Foley crossed for Brian Fitzgerald to equalise and leave it 1-1 at the break. Athletic pushed forward in the second half and Michael Casey put Athletic 2-1 up with a well taken goal. Michael Foley made it 3-1 five minutes later with an excellent solo effort when he dribbled through the Celtic defence and beat the goalkeeper from a tight angle. Celtic did pull one back late on but Athletic held on for a well deserved victory.
Killarney Athletic B 3 Killarney Celtic B 3
Our B team battled hard but were unlucky to go down 4-3 to Celtic in the other game of the night. After going 1 down early on, Athletic went 3-2 up but 2 late goals gave Celtic all three points.
Under 12 National Cup
Killarney Athletic 6 Newcastle West Rovers 3
Killarney Athletic played hosts to Newcastle West Rovers in Woodlawn on Saturday and came out on top 6 – 3 in a very good game. Against the run of play Athletic went a goal down after 10 minutes but bounced back to lead 3 – 1 at half time with Jason Coffey getting a hat-trick. Athletic kept up the good work in the second half and Jason Coffey added another goal to his tally with Chevez hitting an excellent goal and Liam Curran also getting a fine goal. After a shaky start to the season this team are showing signs of improvement and on the day while it was a good team performance David O'Mahony did well in goal, Liam Kelliher, Mark Fennel, Colm Cagney and man of the match Jason Coffey all played particularly well.
