The senior team lost 2 – 0 to Camp with a very depleted squad and a poor performance from Athletic. Camp restricted Athletic to long distance shots and in turn scored on the counter attack. Athletic will need to improve to face Dynamos in the cup next Sunday at 11-30am.

Under 14

Killarney Athletic under 14’s lost at home 3 – 1 v Killorglin. A very depleted squad put in a good spirited performance against visitors still looking to win the league. Killorglin got 3 goals late in game but Athletic replied with a well worked move involving Eamon Long, Keith Suter, Tadhg Doolan and finished off by Harry Potts. Every player can be very proud of the effort put in and some good football with game much closer than score line suggests.

Under 13 Shield Semi-Final

Killarney Athletic 4 – 1 Mastergeeha

Our boys advance to the Shield Final after outstanding performance last Thursday evening. We hit the ground running with three early goals, two from Robert O’Shea and one from Emmet Finnan. Mastergeeha settled and kept a tight and stubborn defence for the rest of the half. The second half started with Mastergeeha putting us under pressure and got their due reward with an excellent strike into the top corner. This seemed to spurt our boys back into action, with some excellent play down the left wing from Owen Benson he crossed to Robert O’Shea to bag his hat-trick. Credit to geeha, they battled hard to the final whistle but our boys were just too good on the day. Great performance with some excellent football on display with all squad players getting a game. We advance to the final in great form and wish the boys good luck on the day.

Under 12 League

Killarney Celtic 1 Killarney Athletic 1
This was Athletic’s first game in quiet a while and they found themselves a goal down early on when a rather static defence failed to clear a corner, but Athletic were growing into the game and when Rossa Bellew scored a screamer of a free kick it was no more than Athletic’s play deserved. One all at the break. The second half began with Athletic on the attack and that was the way it ended, with Athletic having a good penalty claim turned down midway through the half. It ended all square after a great game and a great performance by the whole squad.

Under 11

Our under 11’s had the hardest luck ever on Friday evening losing out to Park B in a penalty shoot out that saw 20 penalties taken and Sean O’Connell scoring the winner for the Park. Our boys got off to a great start with Alex Hennigan scoring after a minute. Park got a goal back and it was level at half time. The second half was played in a great spirit but both teams did their best not to score. Extra time and I would say if they were still playing nothing would separate them. A terrible way to lose but a little ice cream and crisps made the trip home easier. On the day our goalkeeper Shay O’Meara and defenders Matthew Horgan, Cian Lynch and Teddy Muldoon were best. This is a good bunch of lads and they are learning all the time. Next year we hope to have two teams at under 12.
