Conor Spellman R.I.P
The Club was deeply saddened by the sudden and untimely death of Conor Spellman. Conor was one of the more talented players to play with the Club at underage level in the 1990s and was a prolific goal scorer with his team. As a youth player he enrolled through the Club on an FAI run soccer training course in Dublin and played junior football for a period while in the capital. Conor also played at senior level with the Club for a number of seasons and won the player of the year trophy in the 2004/05 season, and was awarded the Sean O’ Connor / Martin Beckett trophy for his achievement. We pray that Sean, Martin and others will welcome him into the ‘Athletic squad’ in the eternal life. Conor was a genuinely likeable person and all in the Club who would have known him wish to extend our deepest sympathy to all his family. May he rest in peace.

Killarney Athletic 4 Killarney Celtic 1
Our under 15 team had a great win against Killarney Celtic on Saturday 29th Oct. winning 4 – 1. We were totally dominating the game going 3-0 up before half-time. We played spectacular soccer up to this, scoring 3 wonderful taken goals. We then sat back and left Celtic back at us and this resulted in them scoring. We were on the back foot for a while with Celtic testing our defence but they held them out and a break away goal with 10 minutes left ended the contest. A very good solid performance from all, with 4 players missing on the day it was a great chance for others to show
their worth and they truly did this. It was a great day for Creagh Courtney he came in at left midfield and scored 2 goals and very unlucky not to get his hat-trick, it was also great to see Ciaran Spillane making a great debut. Other scorers on the day were Veterans Adam O’Shea and Michael Casey. This has been a very good start to the season so far from these boys so keep it up guys. Well done.

Under 14 National Cup
Killarney Athletic 3 Shannon Hibs 2
The under 14s had a great comeback against Shannon Hibs in Clare in the 3rd round of the National Cup. The boys passed the ball well creating numerous chances before Shannon scored against the run of play. Athletic quickly replied with Michael Potts getting on the end of a James Suter cross to level matters. Shannon again got a goal to leave the score at 2 1 to the home team. With 10 minutes to go and numerous chances by Athletic, Mark O’Shea got a great goal with a diving header from a David Naughton corner. In the final minute of the game, David Shaw scored a header from a Tommy Counihan cross. Well done boys. Last 64 of the competition now. Best for Athletic David Naughton, Mark O’Shea and James Suter.
