Youths
Killarney Athletic 3 Inter Kenmare 2
Another tough away fixture against a decent Kenmare side, our lads were made fight all the way for what could turn out to be 3 invaluable points. 2 harsh red cards made the job all the more difficult but a mixture of undoubted ability and a great will to win saw us through. Goal scorers Niall and Rory Riordan (2) in a great team performance. Under 15 National Cup
Killarney Athletic 2 Kingdom Boys 1
This was always going to be tricky fixture as it proved to be on the day. Athletic had a couple of early chances which we failed to convert but eventually were rewarded just before half time when Michael Casey was brought down in the penalty area. Adam O’Shea converted from the spot to put Athletic 1 up at half time. To their credit Kingdom boys fought back in the second half and with 15 minutes to go were awarded a free kick outside the box. A cruel deflection left our Goalkeeper with no chance and the sides were level. Athletic again started to put pressure on the Kingdom Boys defence and after some great up front, Dylan O’Sullivan broke through to score a cracking goal and put Athletic into the next round.
Under 13
The under 13 second team beat Celtic this morning away with Liam Curran scoring a great goal rounding the keeper and scoring from a tight angle. Best for Athletic were Renaldas Bendikas, Adam Dennehy, Fiachra O’Connell and Ian O’Shea. The First team lost to Fairview Rangers in the National Cup despite dominating the game for large periods. A big thank you to the parents for organising refreshments for the players afterwards.
