Killarney Athletic B v Castleisland 2.30pm

Killarney Athletic B 2 CSKA 1

In a winter sun game played in Ferndale, the B team took on CSKA of Tralee. Things didn’t start well for us when we went down 1 – 0 10 minutes into the game but Athletic were the better team and well on top and had great chances but the CSKA defence were solid. Into the second half and some quick play by Pa McClure up the wing guided him through on goal slotted under the keeper to level the scores in the 70th minute. Not content , Athletic pushed on and Chris O’Meara was taken down in the 85th minute and Pa McClure slotted away the penalty. A last grasp save by Cian Buckley who is having an outstanding season ensured the points. Best for Athletic Chris O’Meara, Joul and Eamonn Ahern. We travel to Castleisland for 2.30 kick off next Sunday taking on the in form team of the league.

Under 13

Under 13 START 2015 WITH WIN : Our Under 13 team started 2015 with a 4 – 1 win against local Killarney Celtic B. It was the first game of 2015 and the boys were a bit sluggish after all the festivities however we won very comfortably in the end. It was 0 – 0 at half -time even though we hit the Celtic cross bar 3 times and other very close misses, the second half started well and it wasn’t long before we opened up our scoring. Overall a good performance with a lot of players feeling the Christmas blues but they got their result. Scorers on the day were Jack Cooper (2) Daragh Kelly and Eoghan Mulvaney. Man of the match was Owen Benson. Well done to the boys who are still on top of their division.
