Match Report Senior A, Killarney Athletic 2-0 Listowel Celtic

Denny Premier A
Killarney Athletic 2-0 Listowel Celtic

A great win for the senior side on a wet and blustery night at Woodlawn. With both teams with a chance of progressing to the league final, a loss to either side would be a damaging result. Athletic played into the Ferndale end in the first half and couldn’t tuck away one of the chances created. Brian o Connor and his defence were well on top at the other end to leave the half time score 0-0. Into the second half and an athletic attack saw Sean Cournane upended in the box. Daithi Casey calmly tucked away the rebound after his initial penalty was saved. With the clock running out, Listowel taught they were back on level terms with a cracking shot to the top corner but an “absolute worldie” save by Brian O Connor to deny them gave Athletic confidence and a late counter attack let Shane Doolan in to end Listowel’s chances in this seasons league. Hard luck to Listowel and we wish them well for next season. A great team performance and The boys in blue need a win at home to Rattoo in the final day of league fixtures to guarantee a league final. Any 2 of 4 teams can make the final making it the most exciting league in many a year.
Come and support the boys in their upcoming fixtures. Times and dates will be posted when confirmed.
