The Blues progess to the quarter final of the Tommy Healy with a hard fought win over Ballyheigue this evening. Athletic opening the scoring when Damien McCormick converted a Gary Moynihan header inside the opening 10 minutes. From the re start , Martin Crowley set Chris O Meara who calmly slotted the ball into the top corner. Chris wasn’t finished and a quick set piece moments later gifted Chris with another goal to give the Athletic boys a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes. Ballyheigue started the comeback in the second half and 2 tremendous goals brought them back in by the bare minimum before a late goal by Daniel O’Sullivan gave Athletic the cushion of a 2 goal lead before Ballyheigue got a cracking 3rd goal that was reminiscent of Denis Bergkamp type goal. Athletic now meet Strand Road in the coming week.
