Senior B Match Report , Killarney Athletic B 2-3 Classic Fc B

Denny Division 1B
Killarney Athletic B 2-3 Classic B

In our final league game of the season, the boys went down by a goal in the final ten minutes of the game. The game was only a few minutes old when the Classic striker scored a goal from an acute angle “beating” the offside trap much to the dismay of the athletic defence. The next attack was Classic again and a wicked deflection beat David Neeson in goals to give the visitors a quick 2-0 advantage. Athletic woke up and moved the ball much quicker and upped the tempo and quickly got one back through Chris O Meara who was played through by Kieran Costello. Chris quickly added a second to ensure it was all square going into the half time break. Into the second half and Athletic had some great chances but the Classic keeper pulled off some great saves to frustrate the home side. With Timmy Lynch pushing into midfield for Classic, they began their lean spell and a counter attack with only a few minutes left on the clock, got that sucker punch to deflate Athletics hopes. A great team performance with Chris O Meara pick of the bunch with his two goals. This team mightn’t have the ability of the Premier teams but it’s exactly what we are, a team of friends. This was only the B teams second defeat in the league since December. 2 Cup runs remain for the remainder of the season
